Most modern storage technology for Glas Trösch

Rational storage, handling and order picking of special PVB foils have become one of the most important tasks for an enterprise in the glass industry today. The delivery of the orders in due time places highest demands on logistics.
Glas Trösch AG in Ursenbach, canton Bern, is a leading company in the Swiss glass industry. For its highly sensitive area of PVB foils, it has chosen to invest in a completely self-contained, mushroom-shaped paternoster installation with integrated air conditioning made by System Schultheis AG, Rapperswil. The advantage of this storage technology is the most efficient use of the existing height of the premises on a minimal floor space. The compactness allows a high storage density and shorter handling routes. Our illustration shows the unloading station of the new paternoster installation.

DIXI cylinders SA, Le Locle, Switzerland

This well-known Swiss manufacturer of different types of high precision tools modernised its storage. The old conventional storage in several locations no longer met the ever-increasing requirements. Therefore, the management decided to invest in the new, ultra-modern MULTI TOWER storage system from System Schultheis AG. The new storage system allowed Dixi not only to centralise its storage system, but also to considerably increase its capacity, optimise its handling and therefor increases its productivity. The new storage system stands out by the fact that a cassette can be completely extracted in a way similar to that of a railway wagon, so that the cassette can be loaded or unloaded from both sides. Pierre Castella, Vice-President of DIXI Holding, says: " The MULTI TOWER is the ideal solution for our storage, it stands in the middle of the production area and feeds the machines directly, quickly and by the shortest way. " (reported January 12th, 2001)

One of the most important suppliers to the automobile industry in Germany – Kolbenschmidt GmbH, located in Neckarsulm – has optimized its storage and retrieval logistics.  The old storage facilities occupied excessive amounts of floor space and did not meet today’s demanding requirements for handling and pick rates. These were several of the reasons that caused KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH to invest in a “state of the art” Multi Tower Storage and Retrieval System manufactured by

System Schultheis AG.

The new Multi Tower system, which was installed in September 2000, provides significant increases in floor space savings, productivity, and inventory control.  The Multi Tower system easily accommodates material otherwise not physically able to be stored by traditional automated storage and retrieval systems.  The system incorporates an easy to use intuitive control system that makes the Multi Tower system a pleasure to operate.
